Two New, Independent Restaurants Open at Mailbox this Summer

This summer, Mailbox will be welcoming two new restaurants to its vibrant Canalside mix, catering for our office workers and the wider Mailbox community. The Mayan is Birmingham’s first fine-dining modern Mexican restaurant and bar, offering an immersive culinary experience, and EN Steak is an independent, family-run business, specialising in high-quality meats, cocktails, and wines.

Occupying 4,347 sq ft, The Mayan is set to open its doors at Mailbox this summer and invites guests to embark on a culinary adventure that celebrates the art, flavours, and traditions of Mexico.

Sharath Sundar, Operations Manager of The Mayan, said: “We are thrilled to introduce you to The Mayan, located on the Mailbox Canalside. Our vision is to showcase the richness of Mexican cuisine in a modern and refined setting. From the moment guests step through our doors, they will be enveloped in an atmosphere inspired by the essence of Mexico while enjoying an extraordinary gastronomic adventure.”

Independent and family-run restaurant EN Steak is also set to open on the Mailbox Canalside this summer, occupying 3,052 sq ft and neighbouring Aluna.

Chef and Owner, Pampi, said: “We are thrilled to launch our latest culinary venture, situated in the heart of Birmingham’s stunning Mailbox complex overlooking the serene canal. The restaurant boasts a breath-taking design, with an open kitchen concept that showcases our state-of-the-art charcoal ovens and dry ageing cabinets.”

“Our skilled butchers meticulously handpick and prepare the finest cuts of meat, ensuring that each plate is served with unparalleled freshness and flavour. Using a combination of charcoal and cherry wood, we add a touch of unique smokiness to our dishes that sets us apart from the rest. Complemented by our inventive and delectable side dishes, with locally sourced ingredients, our menu promises a culinary experience that will leave you coming back for more.”

Andy Jackson, Estate Director, Mailbox, commented: “We are extremely excited to be welcoming these new restaurants to the Mailbox Canalside. At Mailbox, we are committed to creating unique experiences for our office occupiers, residents, and guests to enjoy, and these two new restaurants add to our diverse, modern, and vibrant leisure offering.”

Ruth Miley, M7’s Senior Asset Manager for Mailbox REIT, added: “Mailbox is a thriving 24/7, mixed-use destination, and these new openings are reflective of our strategy to offer varied services for our growing community at Mailbox, helping us achieve our vision for Mailbox to be Birmingham’s first-choice destination to live, work and play. Following these two new lettings, we are delighted that the Canalside is now fully let, and Mailbox is 96% occupied.”

EN Steak is recruiting for a line chef, a grill chef, a kitchen porter, bar staff, a restaurant manager, a supervisor, and front-of-house staff. To find out more and apply, please email [email protected].
