New immersive ‘Restaurant at The Woods’ opens at Mailbox, Birmingham

A new and unique forest-themed restaurant is now open at The Mailbox!

With its lush paradise of towering trees, waterfalls, nature noises, themed food and drink and interiors that change with the seasons, Restaurant at The Woods, located on level 3 of The Mailbox, offers a wild dining experience unlike anything else in Birmingham.

The independent restaurant is dedicated to delighting guests, serving exciting new food, and minimising its impact on the environment, through initiatives such as using local suppliers, biodegradable or compostable packaging and renewable energy sources.

On the menu, you’ll find an eclectic mix to cater for every taste bud, from traditional to more adventurous breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as show-stopping drinks and cocktails in the bar.

Owners Luke and Curtis, who also own the renowned Solihull café, The Woods, are delighted to expand their offering by opening their second location at The Mailbox.

Luke said, “We are thrilled to be here at the Mailbox and to bring our unique offer to such an incredible space.”

“At the heart of our business is a passion for the wilderness; we want to create a unique experience that allows people to escape the suburban jungle and find peace in nature. Our mission is to excite people of all ages about the beauty of every aspect of nature, from its wild animals to its changing seasons.”

“Like our café, Restaurant at the Woods is dedicated to minimising its impact on the planet, filled with nature’s beauty and a bounty of delicious food and drinks that don’t cost the earth, both in terms of pounds and pollution. Our Mailbox restaurant is even bigger and more extensive, allowing us to share our passions even further.”

Curtis added, “Our menu has been created with two people in mind; like us, there is an adventurous eater and a safe player in every couple or family.”

“For the safe players, there are plenty of options from double-stacked beef burgers to pan-fried chicken breast and classic breakfasts. As well as sharing grazing boards and a selection of small plates and starters full of comfort foods and small tasters of wild things just in case you’re tempted to try something new!”

“For the adventurous ones, we’ve created a unique menu that changes the perception of many game meats you may associate with fine dining. As well as classic venison steaks and pan-fried pheasant, we have re-interpreted how these meats can be used, like the wild woods breakfast, pulled venison burgers and pleasant pheasant salad.”

“Not forgetting the veggies and vegans, we have a whole mains section from the fields, as well as many dishes dotted all over the menu; we’ve used plenty of wild ingredients, which are also a little unusual such as stinging nettles and wild mushrooms.”

Andy Jackson, Estate Director at Mailbox, commented, “We are pleased to have welcomed several new occupiers to the Mailbox this year, with Restaurant at the Woods the newest addition to level 3. It follows the recently opened The Mayan, which has enjoyed great success since opening earlier this summer. With its unique and immersive offer, Restaurant at The Woods is a fantastic addition to our diverse, modern, and vibrant leisure offering, and is proving very popular with our office occupiers, residents, and guests.”

Ruth Miley, M7’s Senior Asset Manager for Mailbox REIT, added: “Mailbox is a thriving 24/7, mixed-use destination, and this new opening is reflective of our strategy to offer varied services for our growing community at Mailbox, helping us achieve our vision for Mailbox to be Birmingham’s first-choice destination to live, work and play. Following the opening of Restaurant at The Woods and the recent opening of The Mayan, we are delighted that the Canalside is now fully let, and Mailbox is 96% occupied.”
