We talk SS15 Fashion Week with Nicky Clarke's Senior Director, Sunny Sanga…

We caught up with the fabulous Sunny Sanga, Senior Director at Nicky Clarke and fashion week stylist, to talk trends, top-pick-products and fashion week survival tips…

You’ve travelled the globe, working at some amazing SS15 fashion week shows. Tell us where you’ve been and what you’ve been up to…

I worked at the New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks, spending a few days in each city moving from one show to the next. It was amazing being involved behind-the-scenes. There was so much going on and a lot of people making it all happen, from makeup and hair stylists to show directors and producers, models, celebrities and camera crews!

Topshop Unique

You mention working in a lot of shows in the ‘big 4’ cities, which shows stand out as your favourite?

I loved working on all the shows and my favourites would have to include Salvatore Ferragamo, Erdem, Margaret Howell, Kenzo and Dior. That being said, my absolute favourite was Topshop Unique. There was an amazing buzz backstage and everyone was loving being a part of the show. The look was beautiful too- the inspiration came from a woman walking along the beach in Blackpool. The hair was slightly wind-swept and elegantly dishevelled. It’s actually really easy to re-create at home…start by working Nicky Clarke ultimate mousse through the mid to ends of your hair, gently blow dry with your fingers to give a natural finish. Finish with a spritz of Nicky Clarke Ultimate Hair Spray to add some guts and movement.

Talking of inspiration, what were the notable key trends?

One of the biggest hair trends for SS15 is the low pony tail. I saw so many variations of this, from straight and slicked back, to a relaxed look with more movement. Partings were through the middle or side-swept. This was replicated on the front row, the key looks were low ponytails and hair worn down with centre or side partings.

Fashion week is clearly a very busy time for everyone involved! What are your fashion week top tips?

My mornings started at 4am so it was really important to get a good night’s sleep and drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. Good skin care is essential too. The salon is just round the corner from Harvey Nichols so as soon as I was introduced to La Prairie and Elemis products, I was a fan. Eye cream is my cannot-live-without product!

I like to keep my hair routine simple and regularly use Nicky Clarke Argan Oil, this came with me to all the shows. It provides so many benefits for both styling and hair-maintenance and gives hair a healthy injection of moisture.

And finally…who was your favourite model to work with?

I met Joan Smalls and styled her hair for the Salvatore Ferragamo show. She’s lovely and even more beautiful in person!
