Having worked at The Mailbox for just over a year, I think I’ve finally visited every restaurant. Here are my recommendations on which ones to visit for each of those important occasions in life.
If it’s romance you are after then look no further than Bar Epernay… Cocktails, the ‘Champagne Library’, gorgeous food including oysters, live piano and a cosy fireplace.
Alternatively, whisk yourself off to Paris – not literally but Cote Brasserie will take you there via your taste buds!
Keeping the kids entertained
For family favourites that please even the biggest of kids, you can’t beat Pizza Express or Nandos!
Start with cocktails in the sultry bar at Malmaison and then if things are going well, progress into the Brasserie restaurant.
Also a great city spot for people watching if you need something to spark conversation! Or for something more casual, Pennyblacks pub atmosphere will definitely make your date feel at ease.
Work night out
With great tunes, fresh food and fabulous pizzas with a continental bar type atmosphere Bar Room Bar is great for an evening out with colleagues… which might turn into a night on the town!
If your work mates are foodies who like fun, then The Oriental offers an amazing pan-Asian menu with just the right amount of theatre and classy cocktails.
Buzzing with atmosphere and with an array of tapas which will leave you spoilt for choice Bar Estilo would satisfy anyone looking for a special birthday meal, either with friends, family or your significant other.
Miller and Carter is also a great way to celebrate – come hungry and make sure you try the cocktails here,
Mother’s Day, mum’s birthday or just because she’s your mum a trip to the Harvey Nichols Espresso Café will make her feel very special indeed.
Nestled amongst the latest season’s fashion and accessories with brasserie style food prepared by the in house chef you’ll be tempted to treat her to a champagne cocktail too! Zizzi also offers a range of menus and fine wines in contemporary Italian surroundings which will be sure to impress.
Dinner with the girls
When the girls get together the occasion calls for fine food, plenty of vino and a relaxed informal setting and preferably round tables so that no one is missing out on the gossip. Red Peppers and Strada will cater for all of this perfectly!
Café Rouge serving all the French classics and weekly specials is the perfect break to a mid-week or weekend shopping trip. If it’s dry, make the most of the terrace and soak up the views of Birmingham’s canal.
Over Christmas, Harvey Nichols will be bringing a pop up cinema to the Mailbox outside their store. Before settling down to a 1pm screening why not grab a burger at GBK?
Options include the skinny (no-bun), Angus beef and buffalo! Grab a portion of sweet potato fries too. Amaaaaazing.
