The Androgyny Trend

Fashion proves it really is a man’s world as womenswear takes its nod from menswear this season. We asked our fashion editor Lisa Piddington to pick her key pieces for Autumn from Harvey Nichols.

The catwalk has flirted with androgyny for a couple of seasons now, but it seems its back with a bang. For A/W13, masculine-feminine boundaries are blurred as womenswear takes a manly turn. Seen on the runways at Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana and Yves Saint Laurent, the look is all about mannish tailoring and boyish charm.

High-shine brogues and smart tapered trousers look great teamed with a plain white shirt, while a trilby, bow tie and structured tote add instant elements of androgyny.
