When it comes to good haircare, the Nicky Clarke team have the expertise to transform dull hair into healthy glossy locks, and with summer holidays on the horizon, now is the time for a restyle! We had a chat to advance designer Jessica, who shares her favourite trends and top tips to keep your hair happy and healthy as the weather heats up.
Hi Jessica! Now that haircuts are a regular routine again, have you noticed any summer trends in the salon?
Yes definitely! Since lockdown, we’ve noticed that a lot of people have become used to keeping their hair longer over the last year, and so many of our clients are more open to keeping a bit more length and experimenting more with their colour.
What’s your favourite summer hair trend at the moment?
It’s all about a low maintenance fringe at the moment. They look great and are so multi-functional because you can style it out, or incorporate it into everyday simple styles, like a chic bun!
When it comes to colour, I think a rule of thumb is to always see colour as an enhancement to your natural base, this way you can never go wrong! For summer, add some sun-kissed pieces for an effortless look.
What’s the easiest way to update my style for the summer?
If you like the length of your hair, then an easy update would be to add more shape or to add a fringe. ‘70’s bangs’ are really popular right now and they offer a change without jeopardising the length. I think they look so good on blonde hair for summertime!
How do I look after my hair in the sun?
Colour can be affected in the sun as the sun naturally lifts the hair. I’d recommend wearing a sun hat to prevent this from happening. Products are also helpful as another layer of protection and I’m currently loving the Wella System Professional Solar range. The Solar Sun Oil is a great product which protects, smooths, and conditions your hair and creates a barrier from the sun with UV Filters.
How should I look after my hair between salon visits?
Keep your routine simple. A good shampoo and conditioner are a must! I would also stick to one product for wet hair and one for dry. This way you will have a great hair care routine and won’t be leaving your shelf full of unused products.
We also provide lots of in-salon treatments which are also a great idea to keep your hair feeling fresh in-between visits.
