The Mailbox has unveiled its newest resident, as a giant owl has arrived as part of The Big Hoot.
Designed by Birmingham based artist and illustrator Jane Anderson (Current State), the beautifully elaborate Peacock owl is set to turn heads thanks to its vibrant colours and intricate details. Having now landed at the Mailbox, you’ll find our unique owl opposite BBC Birmingham:
The Mailbox owl is one of over 90 giant sculptures that will be dotted around the city this summer, creating a visually striking trail to showcase the highlights of Birmingham. Presented by public art specialists Wild in Art, in partnership with Birmingham Children’s Hospital, the owls will be in situ until 27th September before being auctioned off for charity.
Peacock isn’t the only owl you’ll find here at the Mailbox; BBC Birmingham is home to eight smaller owl sculptures as part of The Big Hoot’s Little Hoot. Designed by children from local schools and community groups, the parliament of owls is a must-see.
So with the summer set to be a hoot here at the Mailbox, don’t forget to share your pictures with Peacock on social media using @Mailboxlife and @thebighoot2015!
