Last month, to mark the launch of our brand new app, the Mailbox hosted TechStyle – a three day event celebrating the relationship between fashion and technology.
As well as welcoming the UK premiere of Spatium – a virtual reality and spatial audio experience inspired by iconic hat designer, Philip Treacy – the TechStyle event featured a number of the country’s cutting-edge brands currently leading the way when it comes to bridging the gap between fashion and technology.
One such brand was EMEL+ARIS. Founded in 2015, EMEL+ARIS believes innovation in design and technology can improve every day products, with its first innovation being the ‘Smart Coat’ – a self-heating luxury coat for men and women. Crafted using a cashmere and wool blend, the coats feature revolutionary infrared technology, allowing the wearer to stay warm without compromising on style. Each coat is also treated with StormSystem for water and wind protection, ideal for the unpredictable British weather.
Elsewhere at the Mailbox, there are a host of other wearable technology brands to explore. Available at Harvey Nichols, fashion meets function with Native Union’s luxury TAG Cable – an elegant and stylish tag that conceals connectors to charge and sync your mobile device from any USB power outlet. Crafted from the finest Italian leather, the tag loops around any bag strap or key-chain so you always have a charging cable with you wherever you go.
Also available at Harvey Nichols is Stone Island – a sportswear brand established in 1982 that focuses on research, experimentation, functionality and design to provide shoppers with truly unique products. The brand’s research in the science lab is manifested in the innovative fabrics and dyeing techniques it uses, ranging from thermo sensitive fabric to military-specification polyester nylon created for total wind resistance. This Stone Island parka features ultra-tight weave nylon tela, padded with the finest down and finished with a dust colour frost treatment which will keep you warm and fashion forward as no two coats have the same exact colour finish.
