Make sales shopping a little more bearable by following these simple rules. We asked the team at Harvey Nichols Birmingham to share their top five tips to getting the most out of the discounts.
1: Do your research before the sales even start and try on your favourite pieces. That way you will be able to grab what you’re after and head straight to the tills rather than wasting time in the long queue for the fitting room … or the even longer queue for returns.
2: Rather than joining the masses on the first Saturday of the sales, shop when it’s a little calmer. Most stores will have extended opening hours, so visit during the traditionally less busy times, first thing in the morning or later in the evening.
3: Do your very, very best to resist buying something just because it’s cheap. We’ve all done it and we’ve all regretted it. Ask yourself: “Would I you pay full price for this?” If you would, buy it. If you wouldn’t, then move on.
4: Instead, treat yourself to the designer collections you’ve been lusting after all season. A well selected item from Christian Louboutin, Mulberry or Dolce & Gabbana means superior quality and you’ll be wearing your new purchases for many seasons to come.
5: And finally, if you have really fallen for an item then you are better to buy it at full price before the sales start rather than risk it being snapped up by like-minded bargain hunters.
The Harvey Nichols Birmingham sale is on in store and online now with up to 50% off the finest designer brands in the city.
