We spent five minutes with the founder of Lovett + Judge; the fantastic new furniture brand, which has just arrived on Level 1!
What can we expect from Lovett + Judge?
We are striving to curate incredible ranges of furniture paired with unique treasures, oddities and curiosities. We want to encourage our customers to be bold and to create a home uniquely personal to them.
Where did the name come from?
I wanted a brand name that was memorable and evocative just like our range of unique homewares and individual furniture designs. We have a number of standout pieces which are truly memorable such as our Icon metallic leather used on our bespoke sofa range – our customers will literally love them or hate them so the name made sense; to “love it” and “judge it”!
What products will be available?
My background is in designing sofa models which are then handmade in our own UK based workshops, using this experience and knowledge the corner stone of the range will be our bespoke sofas. I’ve put together a collection of 20 fantastic sofa designs in a wide range of sizes upholstered in some stunning leathers and fabrics.
I’ve also created a collection of individual dining table designs along with an eclectic mix of dining chairs inspired by blending art deco and retro chic styles. I love the mix-up of styles allied to the use of characterful leathers and velvets to create dining sets with real personality.
To add to our furniture ranges I’ve worked with a local designer to create truly one-off pieces where we buy in solid vintage cabinets and bring them back to life with deep, dark paint finishes and fabulous imagery – each and every piece is unique!
To complement our furniture, I’ve curated a fabulous mix of coffee tables, lamp tables, prints, rugs, soft furnishings and objects of art to inspire and excite the visitors to our web site and stunning showroom positioned in the remarkable Mailbox shopping centre in central Birmingham.
What do you expect your best sellers to be?
This is a tricky question, often the pieces we think will be the big sellers aren’t, it just takes one Instagram post or a share from one of our celebrity customers and a particular item suddenly takes off! That said I’m sure our crazy, wall crawling gold insects will literally “fly” and our beautiful, bespoke collection of sofas will be very popular.
What makes it different to other furniture/home stores?
I think the personal touch; our team are extremely passionate about interiors and providing our customers with great advice on what will work for them. We’re not a team of pushy salespeople, we want to ensure some good old-fashioned personality in the products we offer and the service we provide.
Why did you choose Birmingham as the location for the store?
There are a number of reasons why we felt Birmingham would be great location for our first showroom the main being the opportunity to be located at The Mailbox, a stunning shopping experience with great restaurants and anchored by luxury brand Harvey Nicholls alongside iconic fashion brands such as Boss, Armani and Paul Smith. We also felt that being located a short walk from Birmingham New Street Station allowed our customers from all over the UK easy access to visit our stunning store.
When is the official launch date?
Our showroom opened its doors on 28th November with our launch party where we hosted local media, celebrities, bloggers and influences. Our brilliant new web site, www.lovettandjudge.co.uk went live on Monday 9th December, you can view our ranges and buy online, we offer 0% interest free credit alongside the innovative Klarna pay later options. Plus we are able to deliver all our products nationwide.
Will there be any opening offers for customers?
Yes! We have a launch offer running at present to get 20% off everything!
What plans do you have for the future of Lovett + Judge?
We will continually be sourcing new products and developing the brand through our social media channels. Our other key aim is to offer an interior service in-store where our team will be delighted to help our customers design their home interiors and select from our wide range beautiful furniture and homewares.
You can visit Lovett + Judge now on Level 1.
