2nd September 2021
Have you ever wondered what lies beneath the Mailbox? Now’s your chance to find out!
In 1970, Mailbox opened as the Royal Mail sorting office, where sacks of post were transported to and from the station via an underground tunnel. When the office moved to new facilities in 1998, the tunnel became redundant.
Mailbox has partnered with National Rail to celebrate this unique piece of the city’s history for Birmingham Heritage Week, which will offer the opportunity to walk the length of the tunnel from New Street Station on 10th September 2021.
There are a very limited number of tickets for the guided tour, so places will be allocated via ballot, which closes on Saturday 4th September at 11.59pm.
