Birmingham Makes Space for Spaces

IWG has opened their latest hub for businesses of all sizes, entrepreneurs, innovators, and game changers on the ground floor of the Mailbox.

The 50,000 sq. ft of flexible working space has been brought to the city by way of a partnership between Mailbox REIT, M7 Real Estate & IWG, under its Spaces coworking and flexible office brand.

Spaces positions itself as the choice for expanding teams and those needing space to bring their businesses to life.

The excellent location, transport links, landmark building and facilities at Mailbox were key factors for Mark Dixon, CEO and Founder of IWG.

“When we acquired the asset in December 2019, there was 200,000 sq. ft of office headquarter accommodation already onsite, with blue-chip occupiers such as the BBC, WSP and Advanced Software Solutions. The ground floor comprised of 36,000 sq. ft of under-utilised retail mall space that performed poorly. We made the decision to convert this space into a single floor plate of open plan co-working space. A partnership with IWG’s brand Spaces was an obvious choice for us, being the UKs largest serviced office provider.”
