Escape reality with Lente at Mailbox

The modern world is fast paced, relentless and often exhausting, but fear not – Mailbox is offering visitors the rare chance to take a step back and appreciate a slower approach to life with its presentation of Lente, an immersive art installation created by Birmingham born artist, Georgia Tucker.

Georgia uses technology and physical installations to start meaningful conversations and moments of escapism for the viewer, and this is precisely what she will provoke at Mailbox with her latest installation.

From 8th June, a digital zen garden space, designed by Georgia with the support of Experience Studios, will take over a vacant unit on Level 2, Mailbox. The space will enliven the slow life concept and offer people a chance to escape from their everyday lives.

Inspired by the 72 micro-seasons in a Japanese Calendar and a meditative approach to life, the multi-sensory display will explore the benefits of mindfulness and reconnecting with every element of nature. The exhibition has been scented and sponsored by premium home and beauty brand, Rituals. The scent Georgia has chosen is called The Ritual of Karma and is inspired by ancient Hindu belief that you can radiate positivity by living with good karma and practising kindness. The scent is enriched with white tea and holy lotus to immerse people in positive summer energy and achieve wellness for mind, body and soul. Viewers will be encouraged to make time for calm and take a moment for themselves.

This mesmerizing installation will blend the digital garden space with textured paintings and set design; it will explore the enjoyment of watching life grow, and investigate how different light, shadows and reflections affect the beauty of colour throughout the seasons.

However, Lente will not only offer an impressive visual display, but it will also explore how meditation and art can improve mental wellbeing. According to the Mental Health Foundation, spending time in nature and the arts both have valuable roles in mental health, helping to boost confidence and alleviate anxiety, depression and stress.

Artist, Georgia Tucker, said, “I am proud to be working with Mailbox to host this latest installation. I hope that Lente will offer viewers the chance to relax and reconnect with themselves, and enables them to experience the joy of a slower approach to life.”

Mailbox Estate Director, Andy Jackson, added, “Positive wellbeing is something we always try to encourage at Mailbox, and so we are really excited to offer our community a space where they can take a moment to themselves and reflect – something many of us neglect to do within the working day.”

“I encourage everyone to come down to Level 2, Mailbox and look at Georgia’s amazing work and indulge in a little escapism.”
